Where these numbers come from
Measure: chicken meat slaughtered in slaughterhouses, in thousand tonnes (carcass weight). “Production” is used as a short label. The category covers chickens only; turkey, duck and other poultry categories are excluded.
Coverage: the same 27 EU countries throughout 2010–2024, including Croatia before EU accession. Grey areas mean the selected year is unavailable; they do not mean zero production. Countries outside this group are not included. The 2025 series is incomplete and is not shown.
Animation: every labelled year is a source observation. Colour transitions and spatial blending are visual effects, not measurements between years or within countries. The colour scale stays fixed at 0–3 million tonnes of annual production. The map shows changing production, not tracked movements of farms between countries. Exact country values remain available in either view.
